Case Study: Translating the Book by Vasyl Vovk

Our team was entrusted with the honor to participate in a culturally and socially impactful project – the translation of Vasyl Vovk’s book, "The Security Service of Ukraine: The Holodomor of 1932-1933 – Genocide of the Ukrainian People. Challenges of Investigation: Supporters and Opponents. Legal and Political Aspects. Real Events and Facts."

We performed this translation from Ukrainian into English in three stages, involving:

  • A translator specializing in literary translation.
  • A literary editor who aligned, in every detail, the style and content with the original work.
  • A proofreader who eliminated minor flaws, and technical errors, and polished the text to perfection.

We did this job in close cooperation with the author and his editor, which helped us preserve the accuracy of ideas and facts. We do not claim copyright as our goal was to deliver a high-level linguistic adaptation of this work.

To our mutual delight, the author decided to continue our collaboration with the translation of his next book. We were particularly pleased to receive a unique reward: the original manuscript of the author’s book before its official publication.

Our team is proud of this new partnership, the insightful collaboration, and the valuable experience it brought us. We hope that our efforts will aid in spreading the word about Ukrainian history and a deeper understanding of the magnitude of the trials our people went through. This case illustrates the translator’s vital role in communicating the truth about Ukraine and its past.
